Who Is Vannessa Lindsey?

I started my nonprofit when I was 22 years old, I literally had no idea what a nonprofit was, however, I heard if I wanted to provide services for teens then I should start a nonprofit... so that is what I did. I got my 501 (c) (3) YESSSSS!!! And then was literally stuck on what to do next. Sound Familiar?

Well over the years as a solo-nonprofit-preneur I learned what to do next. When I started just like most new nonprofit founders, I did not have an active board of directors, no money, no experience with fundraising or grant-writing. But oh I learned a great deal jumping in and making it happen.

I really learned what works and what doesn't work, what I would have done differently, and what I am glad I did.

I love sharing my experience, expertise, and love for nonprofits with other aspiring and new nonprofit founders. I love to show them the opportunities and help them stretch their vision to the possibilities.

To create a successful nonprofit organization you have to think about both the clients and funding sources from the very beginning. Why?

There is not a big difference between your clients and the funding sources.The funding sources and your clients have both needs and desire outcomes. The funding source will align with what your clients needs are. Effectively aligning them helps to create a strong nonprofit.

Lots of nonprofits out there are not delivering the results they promise. I like to think most Nonprofit Founders have good intentions to deliver results—but, because they are experts in what they are passionate about and not experts in operating a nonprofit they miss the mark.
